Hi guys, besides LMI and Stewmac does anyone know of a source for buffing wheels? I need 5/8" bore and Stewmac doesn't have them.... I bought one at LMI but its not quite what I needed. Thanks |

CAnton flannel? you recommend those? I was thinking on going with the Spiral Sewn Cotton Wheel. |

On the Caswell site, if you click on Canton flannel, you get a picture of a Domet wheel: is this the same thing? Thanks, Paul |

Yeah, the picture on the site is not what I have. Mine have a white plastic(?) grommet in the middle. |

Tom Durr turned Grant Goltz onto small buffers (mushroom shaped and circular), to put onto a Foredom or other flex shaft tool. These are great for cutaways, sides, necks, and smaller instruments (Tom's specialty is mandolins.) I bought a set of these, and asked Caswell to make it into a kit with the specific fine and ultrafine plastic polish that works well on KTM-9. Ask Caswell about a luthier's kit; save a few bucks. I'm a complete beginner, but it seems like a bigger buffing wheel might do a better job on really large surfaces like guitar tops and backs. But I can't imagine how anyone can buff the inside of a deep cutaway with a big buffer. (I'm sure some wizards can.) Dennis |
